We’ve all heard great collaborations over the years, like Empire State of Mind (Jay-Z and Alicia Keys), Gold Digger (Kanye West and Jamie Foxx), and Smooth (Carlos Santana and Rob Thomas). But there are some collaborations that slip under the radar when they should, in fact, be blasting from stereos everywhere.
To make up for my lack of timely blog posts, here are a whole bunch of collaborations for you to enjoy!
Never Had Nobody Like You – M. Ward feat. Zooey Deschanel: The duo already performs together as She & Him, while Zooey features on some great stuff from M’s solo albums too.
All Summer – Kid Cudi, Best Coast & Rustom Batmanglij: Who hasn’t heard Kid Cudi these days? And the more important question: between Vampire Weekend and Discovery, when does Rustom have time to make such awesome songs with others?
Say Please – Monsters of Folk: Not a collaboration as much as it is a supergoup, Monsters of Folk is made up of four supremely talented indie stars – M. Ward, Conner Oberst and Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes), and Jim James (My Morning Jacket) – who make nothing short of excellent music. (Love the video for this song)
Simple Joys – Beautiful Small Machines feat. Simon LeBon: Truth be told, I’d never even heard of BSM before this song, but this song is nothing short of (pardon the pun) beautiful.
Change – Daniel Merriweather feat. Wale: Who knew a social message could be so catchy?
Symphonies – Dan Black feat. Kid Cudi: Kid Cudi really seems to be everywhere this summer. I’m not complaining when the music’s this good! (Love this video even more).
Feel It In My Bones – Tiesto feat. Tegan & Sara: I’ve never been a big Tiesto fan and only gave this song a listen because I love Tegan & Sara. Now I can’t stop listening to it!
